Resume Samples and Examples by Job Role for India (2026)
A good resume sample is not something to copy; it is something to measure your own draft against. This page gives you three complete, ATS-friendly Indian resumes (a fresher engineer, an HR generalist and a customer-support team lead), a directory of role-specific samples for software, data, sales, marketing, accounting, MBA and teaching, and a breakdown of what every strong sample has in common, section by section.
How to use a resume sample without copying it
Recruiters at TCS, Infosys, Wipro and the large consulting and banking employers see the same pasted sample sentences hundreds of times a week. "Seeking a challenging position in a growth-oriented organisation" is instantly recognisable as borrowed. Use samples for three things only.
- Structure. Note the section order for your experience level: freshers lead with education and projects, experienced candidates with a summary and the current role.
- Bullet pattern. Every bullet in a good sample follows verb + what you did + scale + result. Take the pattern, fill it with your own numbers: team size, revenue, tickets, students, invoices, users.
- Vocabulary. Samples show which nouns matter in your field: the tools, certifications and metrics recruiters search for on Naukri and LinkedIn. Use the ones that are true for you, phrased as the job post phrases them.
Then compare your draft to the sample line by line: does each bullet have a number? Does your summary name role, years, industry and one achievement? If the process is new to you, read how to write a resume first, and pick a single-column design from the template gallery so the content is what gets read.
Three full resume samples: fresher, HR generalist, support team lead
Each is a complete, fictional Indian resume in the format we recommend. Company names are invented; imitate the structure and bullet style.

Sanjana Murugan

- Assisted the PLC team on a conveyor line commissioning; documented 30+ I/O mappings and wrote ladder-logic test cases that caught 3 wiring errors before go-live.
Projects

| Data analyst resume | SQL, Python, Power BI and Tableau resumes with business-impact bullets; dashboards, models and stakeholder work, not just tool lists. |

What every good sample has in common
Across the three samples above and the seven role pages, the same properties repeat regardless of profession.
- A headline that answers "who is this" in one line: role, level or years, specialisation, city. Use the same line as your Naukri headline.
- A summary with at least one number in it. Three lines, no adjectives about yourself, one achievement.
- Reverse-chronological experience with company, title, dates and city on one row, then 3–5 bullets.
- Bullets that end in results. Verb first, number last. No "responsible for".
- Scale with every number. "Raised CSAT from 84% to 91% for an 18-member team", not "improved CSAT".
- A skills section of grouped nouns. Tools, methods, domains, languages. No "hard-working" or "team player".
- Education with year and score, shorter as experience grows; freshers include Class XII, senior candidates drop it.
- Certifications that match the role, dated, with the issuing body.
- Single column, standard headings, no photo, so the file parses in an ATS. The ATS resume guide lists what breaks parsers; check your resume's ATS score free before applying.
- Nothing from a biodata: no father's name, date of birth, religion or marital status. If a form asks for those, use the biodata format separately.
Anatomy of a resume, section by section
| Section | What goes in | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Contact line | Name, city, phone, email, LinkedIn URL; GitHub or portfolio for technical and creative roles. | Full postal address, two phone numbers, an unprofessional email ID. |
| Headline | Role · years · specialisation · key tool or domain. | Writing "Resume" or "Curriculum Vitae" as the heading. |
| Summary or objective | Summary for experienced candidates (3 lines, one number). Objective for freshers (2 lines naming role and industry); see career objective examples. | A paragraph about "seeking a challenging position". |
| Experience | Most recent first. Company, title, dates, city; 3–5 bullets; internships count for freshers. | Duties copied from the job description; no numbers. |
| Projects | Freshers and technical roles: 2–3 projects with tools, scale and outcome. | Listing the college project title with no result. |
| Skills | Grouped nouns: tools, methods, domain, languages. | Soft skills, star ratings, skill bars. |
| Education | Degree, institution, year, score. Freshers add Class XII; senior candidates keep degrees only. | Listing every school since kindergarten. |
| Certifications | Relevant, dated, with issuer. | Expired or irrelevant certificates padding the page. |
| Extras | Awards, publications, languages, positions of responsibility (for freshers and MBAs). | "Hobbies: reading, music, travelling." |
The order changes with experience. Freshers: contact, objective, education, internships, projects, skills, certifications. Experienced: contact, headline, summary, skills, experience, education, certifications. If a company asks for a "CV", the CV format guide explains the difference. Add a short cover letter when applying directly rather than through a portal.
Frequently asked questions
Can I copy a resume sample word for word?
Copy the structure, the section order and the bullet pattern, not the sentences. Recruiters who read hundreds of resumes recognise pasted sample text, and an interviewer will ask you about every claim on the page. Replace each number, tool and company with your own before you send it anywhere.
Which resume sample should a fresher use?
Use the fresher sample on this page as the base: education first, then internships and projects with numbers, then skills and certifications, all on one page. If you are going through campus placements, check your college's format rules too, because many placement cells mandate a fixed template.
Are these samples ATS-friendly?
Yes. All three use a single column, standard section headings (Summary, Experience, Skills, Education, Certifications), plain text bullets and no tables, images or icons in the content area. That is what parsers used by Naukri, LinkedIn and large Indian employers read reliably.
Do Indian resumes need a photo, date of birth or father's name?
Not for private-sector jobs. Those fields belong on a biodata, which some government forms, small firms and family businesses still ask for. A corporate resume needs name, city, phone, email and LinkedIn; everything else is space for achievements.
What is the difference between a resume sample and a resume template?
A sample shows the content: what a real person in that role wrote and how they quantified it. A template is the design: fonts, spacing and layout. You need both; pick a clean template and fill it using a sample from your role as the writing guide.
Can I edit one of these samples online?
Yes. Open the builder, choose a role profile or template, and it loads a pre-filled sample you can edit line by line. Building and editing are free; you can also paste in an existing resume and let the AI rewrite the bullets.
